Ok, this is getting on my nerves.

Anyone else have BTV pausing video playback for a few seconds ?

I never used to have an issue, but lately my machine keeps stopping during watching btv recorded video - audio and video stop, the pause bar doesn't appear - and then it resumes (after a jump of video).

pressing pause/play doesn't do anything.

I'm only half sure it's a btv issue however, since I've had some pauses watching dvd's with cyberlink powerdvd lately. I always attributed it to a dvd rom drive or a disk spin up issue though. But now I'm wondering. There is a common denominator here in that I use cyberlinks video decoder to watch videos in btv AND in powerdvd. But I've not installed any new versions and it's always worked seemlessly until the recet months/releases of btv/bm.

I'm wondering if anyone else has similar issues before I 'bug' btv itself - but I know my system hasn't changed except for installing btv/bm product releases. I wonder, have I gone and hosed my cyberlink codecs in doing so? :(

Okay...this is going to sound nuts, but after I install a Cyberlink decoder of any kind, and use the filter in BTV, I get the same thing. Uninstalling or unregistering the decoder in the registry won't help either. The nutty part is how I fix it.

Normally, in my bios, I have APIC mode enabled, where every device gets a unique IRQ. If I disable APIC and let Windows handle the IRQ management, the problem clears up! I can then switch back to APIC mode and all is fine.

You have to have the "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)" PC driver installed under "computer" in the device manager, before you can switch back and forth like that.
I've had this happen on three occassions, and this has cleared it up everytime.

hmm. so it's an irq conflict it seems. I'll give it a whirl. Although I can probably just pull the 500mce out of the box - or in a few weeks switch to the ASUS A7N8X-X mobo I have spare and see if that has better IRQ usage.

Thanks for the idea!

Sounds like you've been having quite a time with your system too from your other posts :(

Yes, an IRQ conflict. That just doesn't make sense to me. But my little fanagling manuever works for some reason.

I've had a time of it alright...turns out it was the loose nut behind the wheel!

Good luck...

I was having that freezing problem a few weeks ago. I bugged it, but didn't really get very far in terms of figuring it out. It hasn't happened in the last few betas, though.

Are you able to rewind during the freeze and resume playback? When I was having the problem, thats what I would do. The video would skip for whatever amount of time it was frozen.

I didn't really do anything to fix it. The betas kept coming and it seemed to clear itself up.

Quite possibly, although I kinda want to find out if btv is ever going to support captioning with it. If so, then I'll hang on to it. if not then I may as well pass it on.

Let me ask around and see what the situation is going to be with captioning and I'll get in touch :)
