Nothing in 6 months, no beta going on for a new release

Bugs that definitely require at least a point upgrade, like 1.1

Nothing, no word on anything.

Is BM DEAD?

Fine, but that was from first week of April. 2 months ago???

And no beta of anything BM related, and the bugs from last YEAR are still there.

I have to agree here. BM is great, but it has MANY issues, of which some should have been resolved within the first 6 months. Fast forward and rewind would be an obvious example!!!??

I definitely hear that. However, they're re-working BTV and BM with a completely new back-end architecture, so they're probably trying to minimize how much time they spend fixing problems for a codebase that will soon be completely obsolete.

I'm not saying that's an excuse, but I design and build software for a living, and we definitely try to only fix problems with soon-to-be-dead code if it's absolutely critical. As long as we'll get a free upgrade to the new version of the software I can wait a little while for a major rebuild.

Sounds logical to me! But I wonder how much longer it will be?

Personally I have been looking forward to better integration of the two programs for some time.

ETA anyone??

I eagerly jumped on the beyond wagon myself, but it seems like there isn't a whole lot going on over here and my media center no longer "attracts" me when I'm home like it used to. I hope the pace picks up, more plugins, updates, mods are added, and the forums become a bit more active.

100% agreed. Not even the support staff is eager to respond with an active respond to my emailed questions. They just give me useless workarounds that hardly related to my initial question with the hope that I won't continue asking questions they don't want to address.

I hope the new release comes out before Meedio's TV component comes out of beta... both are moving really slow, or so it seems.

Don't get me wrong, I love my BTV and BM setup as it is right now simply because I can't do much better elsewhere. Meedio's WAY faster for many things (like loading large MP3 libraries by album or artist tag) than BM is but they are also lacking in many areas as well.

Whoever can produce an integrated media environment for me that is stable, resonably fast, and looks good will win me over. BTV and BM have that for me... but just barely. BM is very stable, slow as hell but stable. BTV on the other hand is fast but far less stable and much more prone to producing errors.

Yeah, BM is S-L-O-W. I'm betting that the reason for that is the automation interface with Windows Media Player. If they could shake their dependence on WMP I'll bet we'd see a speed boost...

Softnerd, didn't they just rework the backend for BTV in 3.5? What are they doing now? I haven't seen anything about this. Where did you get your information?

Thanks!

Well the fact that 1.1 was released the other day seems to show that they are still working on things... True it really only has two changes, but at least it looks like they are gearing up for some really big updates... I think that having so many new products, it might take them time to hire enough new developers to keep up with everything, but I have been happy with their work...

Guys, where is BM slow? You mean in menus? or what?

BM is extremely slow when dealing with all forms of music in the libraries. It's just sad. It's also noticable with videos too but I have much less of them so it's not as bad. BM is really bad handling any sort of file meta-data (mp3 tags, video thumbnails, and so on). It's VERY noticable. BM can be slow in menus but it's no worse than BTV which ain't too hot either, especially with firefly.

There's nothing more annoying than searching for music by album name only to have to wait for 10 minutes while the total number of albums stops climbing and the album covers load. Then just moving between albums takes forever. Click, wait... Damn, moved too many too far. And my machine isn't slow by any means.

Having said that I still like it better than Meedio for one important reason: BM automatically finds new music when I put it in my MP3s folder. Meedio doesn't. BM has potential... once it actually integrates with BTV, not this fake keep both programs running and just swap back and forth type of integrating. Meedio "integrates" the same way. :) I'm happy with BM... just barely. I hope it gets better.

And as it happens I thought the discussion was about BTV, which has a public beta going on at the moment. The BM group is a seperate set of developers, and I assure they are still hard at work, although at the moment no public beta is available.

Come on guys the BM 1.1 is out and if you just follow my link above or go to the download page on the main page and look for the upgrade... It doesn't change much but it looks like a start to some big changes... No they don't send out emails or at least I have never gotton one... The beta for BM is just for 1.1 I guess that they decided to rush 1.1 out of beta because it's availible on the main download page... They do send out emails when your a part of the beta but I don't know that they send emails to normal members...

Since 1.1 is out now I guess the NDA is not binding for that version. But then again I'm not a lawyer so I hope this does not get me in trouble.

What I recall seeing in a beta annoucement on 1.1 was that SS had incorporated a capability that will allow fractional updates to be issued over time as opposed to the old way of uninstall the whole thing and install the new version way. I understand with BM 1.1 in place your plugins and settings etc will not be affected each time you upgrade. This is a stepping stone towards bigger and better things which no doubt we will all hear about soon.

That being said, can we move on now? Thanks!

My views exactly. And there finally seems to be progress once again with Meedio TV, so I'm now wondering if Meedio will win this (remarkably slow) race.

Now if they would just start releasing the updates :)
