View Full Version : Install problem
During install, after copying files I get the message 'SetThreadExecutionState could not be found in kernel32. According to Microsoft Windows 98 or 200 is required to be able to call this function. I am running NT4(SP6).
The wizard dies with an 'access violation' (Dr. Watson).
What to do ?

For the time being, we won't be able to support running SnapStream PVS under Windows NT4 (or Windows 95). As you have noted, these older operating systems lack necessary kernel functions that our software calls on. Their inability to run the Windows Media 7 Technologies is also an obstacle.
We are looking into a way to work around these issues, but I don't have a timetable on that or a definite answer on whether that will even be possible. Microsoft certainly seems to have abandoned them as they try to persuade users to migrate to the newer operating systems. So for now, SnapStream PVS requires Windows 98, 98SE, ME or 2000, although I hope we will be able to change that.
NT4 support may well prove to be especially difficult given NT4's extensive history of problems with multimedia support. However, we will certainly do what we can to make it happen.
I'm sorry I don't have better news on this issue, but we will continue to investigate workarounds and you can be sure we'll post the news on our website and in our forums if/when we are able to add support for Windows 95 and NT4.

I understand that, and I can live with that. However I found the PVS software at download.com and it is stated there that NT is supported. It would be nice if this would be corrected.

Thanks for the tip -- I'll follow up on that and make sure they change it.
