I have just installed the 1.1A version and been very impressed compared to my previous attempts with previous versions.

The 3 problems I have preventing me from buying the software are:

1) I only get audio through the left channel

2) The request to convert to PocketPC formatstalls and is left in the Waiting stage requiring manual intervention to kick it off again

3) The sounds comes on during recording and I can't find a way to turn it off.

Are these bugs or the way it's meant to be?

TIA

I solved the last problem by muting line-in playback in Windows Volume Control. Make sure that Mute is unchecked in line-in record.

I like it better this way as the recording process is entirely in background.

I still cannot get audio. I have a Hauppauge Win TV USB and a Sound Blaster Live Value sound card. The WinTV works fine and I get sound and everything, but using Snapstream I don't get audio. I do have line-in selected in the the mixer. I tried switching the mixer settings to mic and wav ins and they both worked fine, it just won't record the line-in. Is there some setting I ened to change in the WinTV program?

Remember, the mixer controls both playback and record. You should make sure that line-in in the recording properties is selected. Mute line-in in the playback to record in background.

If you've tried this already, sorry, as I wasn't sure from your last post.

Thanks Guys....

That's fixed problem number 3.

Problem No 2 was down to me not understanding the config.....the conversion stalls because the conversions can only take place between 1am & 7am by default.... managed to change that.....

So just the one problem away from buying it.

I have also noticed that a program only appears in the show database when the next recording starts....any reason why it does not appear immediately??

Thanks again

Mal, that's the same problem I have. Shows don't show up until I record the next show or delete a file manually out of the show directory. I wonder if it's an IE 5.5 issue? I'm using IE 5.5 by the way. I still can't get my line-in to record, recording from the mic or wav do work though...

(from this thread: http://discuss.snapstream.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000238.html)

Typically you should see something along these lines when a recording completes.

[2/21/2001 11:34:04] Master: TESTER has finished recording "SnapStream Diagnostic Test".
[2/21/2001 11:34:28] Shows.Insert: Added "SnapStre-0-02-21-2001.asf" to the show database.

So you are saying that the second line only appears after you have made some other change to your watch list? After a recording is completed, the file is indexed and that is what typically causes the delay -- that wouldn't explain it not being added until you record another show or until you edit a show.

Are you folks for certain that it isn't just taking a long time to show up, that recording another show or changing some show's information actually causes the unlisted show to become listed?

No it does not appear with out some form of action from me..either restarting the Snapstream software or doing another recording..... please see the following extract from my log which shows two short manual recordings.

To me the key line is the:

[2/21/2001 21:47:20] Shows.Insert: Added "ManualRe-0-02-21-2001.asf" to the show database.

even though the actual file appeared in the shows directory (checking using file manager) at 21:46

Hope this is helpful

Also any thoughts on the single channel recording?

Mal

regarding single audio channel recording: what's your sound card setup and how do you have the sound from your TV signal connected to your sound card? Perhaps you can e-mail screenshots of your "Volume Control" and "Recording Control" screens to techsupport@snapstream.com...
