I just installed the latest version of SnapStream on Windows 2000 with the Hauppauge WinTV card. When I schedule a program for recording within 5 minutes of when the recording starts my system completely crashes.

The “ssw.exe” program crashes and I have to completely restart. Manual recording seems to work but when I schedule a program that’s when I have problems. I didn’t have these problems in the previous beta.

I’ve tried using “Directshow” and “AVICap” and the problem happens with both apps.

Dr Watson shows “Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)”

*----> Task List <----*
0 Idle.exe
8 System.exe
140 SMSS.exe
1084 ssw.exe

Thanks,

-Matt

I also have that problem. I have W98 and the WinTV.

question for both of you: were the things that are happening now also happening under the last beta version of the software? (beta 4a)

This is the first version of the software that I have used.

I uninstalled version 1.0 and went back to beta4. I don’t have the crashing problem when a program is scheduled in beta 4.

The crashing problems only happen in your latest release version 1.0.

Thanks,

Add me to the list of users whose machines crash while beginning a scheduled recording. I went to the FTP site and downloaded beta4 as well. beta4 was the single reason I kept trying to get my system to act as a Digital VCR. I freaked when it crashed. Although, I'm sure they'll quickly resolve any issues. I've been pleased with the product.

Running WinME and an ATI TV Wonder with a Nvidia Geforce MX 2. I received a SSW.EXE caused an error in SSW.EXE message. Don't have the exact text. When I clicked on OK, hoping to read the log, my machine rebooted! Very nasty!

I also unistalled version 1 and installed beta4a and the recording worked as planned.

I was thinking about purchasing the full version of this software, but why do it if I can't get it to work?

I too get crashes as soon as I either set a recording to start or I try the diagnostic. Installing the Beta4 that worked for 'mongothegreat' has made the machine refuse my password in both the Beta and Release 1.
I really would like to get this software working and will probably purchase the full version once I have got it sorted.

I will wipe the machine (its a box just for the Hauppauge PVR card), install Win98SE WinTV drivers and SnapStream Beta4 and report back problems/successes.

Can you post the last section of the log that the PVS writes out before it crashes? If you change the Log entry in ssd.ini to 1, PVS will log its activity to a file under its Log directory.

I have wiped the machine, put on WinME and Hauupauge drivers, tried SnapStream V1 instead of the Beta4 and it still falls over :-(

The log file is as follows:

Using Beta4 did report unable to start WME7 recording engine before erroring.

Paul,

What tuning and capture interfaces are you using? And which particular version of the Hauppauge drivers?
