I added a new program to record this morning, but now Snapstream will not run. When the program starts, it immediately produces an error reading:

"Ssw has caused an error in SSW.EXE
Ssw will now close

If you continue to expereince probelsm,
try restarting your computer."

I have now uninstalled, rebooted, and reinstalled.

I am running a Del Demension XPS550 with a Viper770D video card, SB Livesound card and STB PCI TV card. I had no [similar] problems before adding this record. (I have been affliced with the never ending recording in the past, as well as user generated sound issues). I have updated to 1.1a, just to be safe, with no issues. Here is the debug text (doesn't this go into a log somewhere so I can get the whole thing?):

Jave you tried deleting jobs.dat in your snapstream directory...

Obviously this will kill any other scheduled jobs.

I have the same problem with SSW.exe both with the 1.0 version and the 1.1 version. Snapstream will work TWICE then on the 3rd recording attempt it will crash. Sometimes I can just relaunch Snapstream and record another two shows - other times I have to reboot. Discouraging to say the least.

And, ron, your configuration?

As a follow up - a few uninstalls/reinstalls later, I got it to run, but now it crashes everytime it tries to kick off a scheduled recording, with the exception of diagnostic recordings.

I have not successfully recorded a program since the intial post.

My configuration is as follows: I'm the one who posted that SSW.exe crashes on the 3rd attempt to record. It seems to record two events fine - then crashes on the 3rd.
This happens on my notebook as well as on my desktop.

Presario 5660 Desktop
Hauppage WinTV-USB TV Tuner
Snapstream 1.10a
DirectX8
Windows Media 7

A side note:
For the longest time I could not get AUDIO when recording. It wasn't the inputs - it was the control over the WinTV-USB device. When Snapstream went into record mode the WinTV-USB would turn on but the audio would not output from the device. Microsoft has a newer version of DirectX8 which will fix this problem. The version that is linked from the Snapstream site will not fix the problem.

This seems to indicate that something else may possible be holding open your video capture device. Do you have anything such as WebTV for Windows or another video capture/TV program running when SnapStream PVS attempts to start recording? Are you able to start up and see a picture in vidcap32?

No other video devices/programs running on mine.

The question of sound has come up many times in this board - I suggest that it is time for SnapStream to publish a (un)official Troublshooting guide based on the information that has been passed on this board.
