View Full Version : Unable to use mapped Network Drives?

I'm using Windows XP SP2 and have two drives mapped from my main computer to my HTPC that runs BTV, Beyond Media, Firefly yada yada.

When I try to use those mapped drives (one for music, the other for digital photos) Beyond Media allows me to select the drive, however once I select "Music" the UI does nothing. It's like it can't see the drive.

I browse to the drive using windows explorer and it works fine.

Is there an issue with mapped network drives and Beyond Media?

Thanks in advance,

Julian

I have noticed the same thing. What I have done as a work around, is go to the file explorer and open the mapped drives and then close file explorer. I open BM again and I can see the drives. Wierd. I am using SP2.

So perhaps this is an issue similar to this with BTV (see RobertH's comments)

That's a fine piece of information. Thank you jkoon.

What I've done in the past is set up something to run automatically and execute the following command using a hidden window:

net use d: \\Server\ShareName (file://\ServerShareName)

It reconnects the drive just fine and then all the files are accessible... The window doesn't interrupt anything since it's hidden and runs in 1 second.
