I'm a current user of Firefly with Beyond Media Basic. I'm aware of the differences between BMB and BM except for a few. One of them being Video playback. I recently bought a Canon Powershot SI IS. It creates AVI files with very good quality (up to 30fps 640x480). The problem is that BMB video player refuses to play the video. I am forced to use the Browsing Files function and launch the AVI file which in turns brings up Windows Media Player which works fine. Is there a limitation as to what BMB's video player can run? Is there a way to expand on that? Thanks.

What do you mean by "It refuses to play the file"? BMB plays all files that WMP plays because it uses WMP to play them.

This is exactly why I'm confused. Using BMB's player to select the file and launch brings me right back to the file selection. Doesn't even give me a message or error. But when I use the Browsing option and launch the file that way, WMP comes up and plays the file without a hitch. Something going on behind the scenes that I'm not aware of. Any ideas?

Well I’m not at a machine with BMB installed and I have not played with the settings for it for some time now so bare with me... but isn’t there a setting for what media player that BMB should open certain file types with. I would suggest looking through the settings for BMB and making sure the various media types are properly associated with a player.

What happens if you play a directory containing the offending file (Hit play while highlighting the directory)?
