Hello, very new here. Finally got BTV set up and working and figured out most of the settings. The problem I am having is that the FireFly menus only show up on the PC Monitor, not on the TV when I am watching a recorded show. Example: I am watching a recorded show on TV and select the FireFly button and the menu only shows up on the PC monitor, like Volume, Fast forward, the time-line etc. Every thing else seems to work. Also, at times, it just stops responding, I leave it alone for a few, and it comes back to life. I checked the processor and it is not maxed nor is the hard drive showing major activity. Any suggestions appreciated.

BTV 3.5
FireFly 1.2
PVR 150
Nvidea mx 4000

I had to disable "Full Screen Video" to get the various menus in BTV to show up on the TV. Videos are still shown full screen in BTV so I didn't lose anything with that change.

Hey JohnK! Thanks, but where did you disable this on WinMedia (I am running WinMedia 10) or somewhere in the NVidia settings, or BTV, FireFly settings?

Thanks for the reply.

Go into your nvidia display properties and set up your monitor and tv to display the same thing at the same time (clone mode). This will allow you to play back the files using WMP and still be able to see the firefly display on your tv screen.

Thanks, fought with that for a while and finally got that set up. It took forever to get the clone mode to set the resolution for the PC and the TV the same. I can see BTV, and see the firefly menus, but when using BTV and watching a recorded show, I can't see the Volume, TimeLine, etc when the show is playing. I may not have explained the problem I was having correctly. JohnK was close, but I am not sure what setting he was talking about.

Is the problem now that the btv menus are being cropped by your tv?

If so then in the full screen interface you can adjust the BTV display so they will not be cropped. Go to settings->playback settings->adjust display

Well I think I understand what you were doing before and using that method you would not be able to display the firefly menus on your tv.

Basically I think you were having media player deal with displaying the video on your tv. In order to be able to see the firefly menu on the tv screen you need to have the graphics card controlling the tv display rather than media player.

I’m not sure if that helps explain what is going on any better or not... it is a surprisingly difficult scenario to explain.

Yes it is hard to explain, and I was having the trouble you mentioned above, and resolved those already. I am kind of just letting Snapstream and the PC do what it wants. Very odd scenario. It seems you had something at first because, it is only when the show is playing that I can't see the FireFly-Snapstream display, I see it on the PC, but not on the TV. When I STOP the show, I can briefly see "Go back to beginning, Go to folder, etc" and then it disappears on the TV. Very odd. I am thinking that there is something within the NVida settings (there are only 10,000,000 options and configuration settings :) ) that for some reason when the show-recording is playing, that the FireFly Snapstream menus are not showing on the TV. And they are kind of important. If I did not have the PC monitor there, I would not see the SmartSkip information. Wierd software BTV and FireFly.

Never bought any software that you had to completely figure out how to set up, and use on your own. No book, no De-Struction manual. It is nice software, but if it were not for this forum, I would have never figured it out. Tried sending "Official Support" items in, and after a week or so waiting for a response, I usaully figured it out and they were not that helpful. Very odd they sell these products, and there is no manual, nothing.

Really apreciate the input. Hopefully someone will read this and have conquered it :)

Would you describe the problem as the screen size is too big for your TV? Like it's overscanning a _lot_, but only sometimes?

:applause: No, I fought that battle and won. I finally figured it out. It was in the NVidia settings. This card (gforce mx4000) is a pain in the @%% to configure. I have done nothing but fight to get the displays to work correctly. I disabled "Full Screen Video" (just like JohnK mentioned) SOMEWHERE in one of the config screens. I now have it working perfectly on the TV, but on the PC it does not play the video/show when it is playing on the TV........ I am going to quit while I am ahead. It now displays on the TV as it should. I am going to build a bigger better faster system for this product, but I will not buy a gforce/NVidia card. I have spent hours playing with the settings to try and get this to work, I will ask for help with what everyone suggests for a video card that plays well with this software, but I will post that in another forum. Thanks to all for the help.
