Hi
Received my Firefly today, all the way from the States (I live in Israel).

I installed it - immediately it was working - just the sort of product I have been wanting for years, but finally got it!!

FANTASTIC
THANKS A LOAD

EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT

Two things.........
1) When I go to spotlight, says it can't connect. I AM CONNECTED. I have no firewall. I am on 1.5mb cable speed....my connection is fine.....where is the connection settings for Spotlight??? I have searched the forums but come up with nothing. It doesn't even take its time to try and connect, immediately comes up with can't connect

2) I use an Nvidia Geforce FX 5600 video card, using the TV out on it (svideo). It works GREAT.....I am on the CLONE mode.....which works great too....... just want to know, is there any way of minimising the BeyondMediaBasic program (preferably to the system tray), so that I can carry on working on my PC, while my wife can sit in the living room, browsing through pictures, video, music etc, without affecting whats on my screen???
Maybe this is DualMode or something??? I dunno !!

3) Final question....kinda related to previous one. On my computer I work on a resolution of 1280x960. This works great. In the past, when watching a movie/dvd via my tv out, on my television, I would see the movie fine (using the VIDEO FULLSCREEN option of the Nvidia card) (I don't have widescreen TV, so am always left with top+bottom black bars but what can you do :-( ) ..........anyway........when I installed my Firefly today.....I came across a problem, all was working great, but the top bit and left bit of the BeyondMediaBasic screen/menus was missing......... I changed my system resolution to 1028x746 and everything was PERFECT......... however my question is this, using the modes mentioned in the previous question, is there a way I can have one resolution for my work on my pc, and one resolution to see better on TV???

So.....in summary....

q1 - Spotlight can't connect. No firewalls are on. I am connected fine. It doesn't even take its time to try and connect, immediately comes up with can't connect

q2+3 - How do I set up the TV out on my Nvidia, so the TV has its own resolution and own screen, so my wife can use the firefly to do whatever on TV, while I can look at my PC monitor, and carry on working/surfing etc., with Firefly/BMB minimised (preferably to sys tray)....a kinda dual screen/different screen option, but also preferably two different resolutions. I'm pretty sure it's possible, just can't figure out the settings

THANKS A LOAD

YOU GUYS RULE!

BEST MONEY I HAVE SPENT IN A LONGGGGGG TIME!!!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK

Kindest regards,
Olly

I might be wrong but I think the Spotlight Services will block users outside of the United States. This is from my understanding due to a bunch of legal jargon.

BTW, if you have a fast connection and no firewall you are putting yourself at at HUGE risk.

Of course i have a firewall!!!

I wrote that only because it was better than writing I have a firewall, and I have set it up correctly, as I would still be open to people thinking the solution to my problem was that my firewall hadn't completely had its permessions set properly etc etc............so to save all that, knowing fully my firewall etc is perfectly ok, i just said i haven't got one, so that's not the problem!! Oh well you caught me!@!!!

Anyway, problem is sorted now.

It was an easy solution, though can't remember what it was....some time ago now!

HOWEVER!!!!!!!!! Questions 2 and 3 still haven't been answered yet!!! People have ttried, though nothing of use..........so if any of you out there could help me out I'd really appreciate it!!!

All in all though, this remote is BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!! So easy to use even my 60yr old mother understands it and she, believe it or not, when I told her she can watch movies on my pc, seriously, got down on her knees and spent 10 mins while I was with the dogs, looking for a hole big enough for her VHS tape!!!!!

So that shows you how well this remote has been designed!!

Thanks to all in advance
Have a great day,
I.S.W.Y

Hi'

You can set up your system in dual mode. Set the TV as primary. Then go into settings find identify monitors. remember what number the monitor is then go into the nvid setting and find the button to move your desktop to that monitor number. This will give you the look you want. However, you have to understand how the FF works. It sends commands to the application that is in focus. Thsi is a great way to go about it for people with a single screen. When you throw in a second screen and a second user FF will mess up on it's own.

You can however use a program like girder to refocus FF on ever button push. This will be great for whoever is using the remote but will take some getting used to for the person using the monitor to do anything. IE you are using the monitor to check your email...Wife is using the FF to look at a tv show. Every time she uses the FF windows will be focused on whatever she is watching. This is fine until you start typing a reply to email. Each time she pushes a button you will have to use your mouse to refocus your cursor before you can type anymore.

Lets say you are in the middle of typing something and your wife changes the channel then you hit a letter thats a shorcut for whatever app she is in. I think you get my meaning.

So if all your going to do is read on the monitor your ok otherwise...

At this time I'm not aware of a way to have windows focus on 2 places on 2 screens and retain the focus per screen.

Hope that helps
Leaf

BTW I use the dual setup all the time but my monitor and tv are side by side so I can watch a show and dowork at the same time but I know when I use the remote I have to refocus on the monitor.

Oh in dualmode you can have different screen resolutions per screen.

anyone able to consistently keep Beyond Media on the second monitor. In my setup it keeps wanting to jump back to first monitor. I've tried all the (ATI) video desktop settings - no help. Any suggestions?
