setting up recording that's not EPG??

Is there a way to set up an arbitrary recording that is not linked to the EPG?
Say I want to record a show on Aug 10, 2004 from 10:30am to 11:25am.
The only method I've seen of setting up recordings is based on the 14 day (or however many days the EPG has at one time) schedule.
Is this even possible?

You could set it up in web admin
