Well, thanks to all the helpful people here, I'm closing in on my new skin for BMB. I have done away with everything except the icons that are displayed when different options are selected. At least for the main screen. It's very clean and Intuitive, I think. You just use the remote to cycle up and down through the pictures of the activity you wish to choose.

However, the nice clean professional look goes splat when you cycle to a program that is not part of BMB. BMB uses the windows icon for the shortcut. And those look horrible when BMB resizes them.

As such it would be wonderful if you could associate a nice sized png with the external applications. Or baring that perhaps some additional items could be added to the media button settings. Which would launch programs that the user could specify.

While I'm on the topic of media buttons. It would be cool if all of them, could be customizable to launch any program you want. My firefly arrives today, but I fear that the TV button will not support the MYHD software (HD/analog capture card and software.) Maybe my fear is ungrounded, I haven't installed the demo on my HTPC yet. But I'm pessimistic on BMB supporting the MYHD 100.

okay, you guys will probably help me out more if I search for answers first, eh? I see where MYHD is listed as a supported TV app! Wonderful! Another issue down.

Still like to specify my own pngs, or have some customizable apps....

Sorry this wasn't replied to sooner... You CAN create your own PNGs for shortcuts on the Beyond Media Basic menu.

Here's what to do. After you've dragged a shortcut into your C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Firefly\Programs directory (or whatever the corresponding path is on your machine), you simply need to add a file to this directory with the same name as your shortcut but with the PNG extension. So if you create a link here called "Microsoft Outlook" you would add a file here called "Microsoft Outlook.png". This PNG will be used in the main menu instead of the default application icon.
