Ok, I decided that after all this time using SS (BTV) that I should finally hook it up to my TV. I have had some problems, but I think I have that worked out.

Now my next problem is that I want to move my PC about 50' from my TV. I know I can get svideo and audio cables long enough, but my question is what about an IR receiver for my PVR-250? Any ideas or suggestions? I am also thinking about getting a wireless keyboard and mouse, but I don’t think USB cables can run that far.

What have others done?

radio shack carries this things that look like pyramids, about 3" tall that are 900mhz IR extenders. One on top the tv, one pointing at the PC IR reciever. It uses the 900mhz to transfer thru walls what was once IR.

Would that work for the wireless keyboard and mouse also? Would I just have to buy one or a different on per device?

Thanks!

Or get a Firefly for RF transmission and control of the PC. Native support for BTV also.

I want to use a IR remote so I can use my universal remote. I hate having more than one remote :)

Would the IR Extender also work with a wireless keyboard and mouse?

I use IR extenders so I can watch Snapstream on multiple TVs in different rooms - it works fine with the IR keyboard/mouse.

which keyboard do you have? I just bought a MS Optical Desktop and it doesn't seem to work.

I would look into purchasing some Xantech equipment. It can easily send a signal over 50 ft. The catch is it is a wired system but much more reliable than anything that turns the signal into RF and then back to infrared.

I've got a Harmony 659 and it was able to learn every keystroke I needed. The keyboard (with a mouse built in) is an Airboard (made by Lite-On). I picked mine up at digitalconnection.com.
