Deleting files remotely?

Can I delete files off of my host computer remotely so save space? I'm going to be gone for a while and want to be able to remotely access shows and then delete them so the HD doesn't fill up.

Is there a way to still surf the web and watch tv? The "windowed" version is too big to still web browse.
