I had BeyondTV (latest build) working for some time and last night after a reboot, it will not load up properly. I get the following error:
Beyond TV encountered an unrecoverable error.
I have tried uninstalling in and re-installing again - I did notice at one point after I placed my product key, it had a problem registering. Is this a registering issue? If not, I would consider rebuilding my workstation.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Maybe try posting this in the user-to-user support forum. Might get better visibility there...

I had this same exaxt problem which started last Thursday. I re-installed Windows and BTV and it still was occuring. Nothing seemed to work. Then magically it started working again. I have no clue how or why. I attempted to contact support on Sunday via their email form. I never received any response. Not even a simple email telling me they received my message.
Anyway... Another user mentioned to try pinging WSDL.snapstream.net. It shouldn't respond, but it should attempt to reach an IP address of 64.9.150.134. If it doesn't there may be a possible communication problem. I was never able to try this since I was in the middle of re-installing Windows. All other computers on my network were able to ping this address. I even tried installing BTV on another machine and it worked. So it seemed to be directly a local issue with that computer.

That's not an accurate test because it simply will not work. Don't base your diagnostics on whether or not you can ping it because because we have a firewall denying all ping requests to/from those servers.

Yeah... I think that RoberH knew this as well. However, his thought was that the servers were being redirected locally. He wanted to be sure that my ns lookup returned the proper IP for the host.

I encountered the same problem just now and I think it has something to do with user accounts and/or their passwords.
I changed my windows account password from blank to something and after reboot BeyondTV encountered the unrecoverable error. After changing my windows account password back to blank Beyond TV worked properly again.
Dunno how to overcome this problem though. Would be nice if it is possible to change my password ;)
I just purchased Beyond TV the other day... I've encountered this error as well. The first time I attempted to reinstall the application... format, etc. This time I tried your suggestion and set my windows password back to blank... worked. Thanks for the tip. I just hope they fix this soon.

I have BTV 1334 running on winXP pro and I have no problems with users and passwords. My wife has her user account and password, along with my user account and password, I have no problems running BTV works fine on her account too
I only encountered the problem when attempting to change or set the password for the main btv account. Running WinXP Pro sp1 w/ latest BTV software.
I wasn't aware of this problem and changed my password yesterday. Now I'm getting the 'unrecoverable error' dialog box.
I've tried changing the password back and also deleting it altogether, nothing seems to work. What do I have to do to make BeyondTV work again?

I just had this problem when I tried to set-up the epg.
BTV was working fine until I tried to set up the scheduled tasks in windows to handle the epg import and it crashed and gave me the message.
I did an uninstall of BTV and then tried it again but it gave me the same error.
It wasn't until I reset the passwords under run-control userpasswords2 that it would work again.
It now works ok with windows scheduled tasks and my epg updates automatically.
I had to make sure that I did set up a password for my login for the scheduled tasks to work.......the problem seems to be related to the password issue.

Thanks, OzFiles.
I'm sure I tried resetting the password back to it's original value, but I used the User Accounts dialog from Control Panel rather than 'userpasswords2'. I'm afraid I gave up yesterday and resorted to Plan B: Reformatting Everything. That definitely works, but I wouldn't recommend it. It took me around 13 hours yesterday to rebuild the boot partition with all my apps installed and configured, about 3 hours of that was just Windows Update patching the patches to the updates and rebooting. :(
Oh well, it's all working again now. :)

I suddenly am having this problem also. Just reformatted machine over the weekend and all worked fine until today. Now nothing. Have uninstalled everything losing all my settings and cannot even reinstall now. It seems to fail on the registration. It successfully scans my channels but will display nothing and no audio in the setup wizard. Then it reports my registration has failed.
BTW, what is userpasswords2 and where do you find it?

Ok, so let me understand this. If I forget to set my windows password before I install BTV and then I start to use a password I am out of luck?
I had this problem until I set my user password back to nothing. There has to be a way out of this mess. I just formatted to see if I could get BTV working and after setting everything up THIS happens. I need to secure my machine with a password.
