View Full Version : Is there a 3.5 beta
I signed up for the beta program and when I go in there are no betas
The Beyond TV beta program is currently closed.
As soon as the 3.5 beta is ready, the program will re-open.
I'm tired of reading about all these so called new features, I need multiple tuner support so maybe I'll just go to sage.tv , they already support multiple tuners.

Well if you *need* multiple tuners that much, that quickly, I suppose you ought to have a look at another solution.
3.5 is in closed beta whilst major issues are sorted. When it reaches a suitable stage (no idea when) it will go into open beta (as I understand it).

Nigel

Too bad... Well I've used snapstream ever since its first version... But I am starting to build a custom PVR so yes I do need multiple tuners. Thats what makes the solution work.
If you take a look at the sageTV board there are folks with as many as 3 tuners or more.
Do you already own a copy of SageTV?
If not, you're willing to plunk down $60 just so you can use multiple tuners right away?
You already own a license for BTV, I assume, so just be patient, man. Multiple tuner support will be out in due time. I know I have no problem waiting because until then, I can just use my VCR to record something in the rare instance when two shows conflict. Its well worth the minor hassle when the alternative is pay for something else like SageTV. Just get your multiple tuners all set up and wait for that email announcing the public beta.
1.) I do own a licensed copy of btw , 2 in fact.
2) I also own two licenced copies of Sage.Tv
3) I guess I'm not very patient.

2 BTVs and 2 Sage?
I hope you have 4 computers....
Why not use Sage for the time being and when 3.5 comes out switch back over.

I have a copy of each installed on my main pc, and another copy on a test machines which may be the basis for the htpc I'm going to build.
They play well together each with its own strengths. Neither give me everything I want so I'm writing a streaming program of my own that will "talk" to the two.
Its not a matter of watching one program and recording another, thats old tech. You need to think media servers, One central server located in a spare room that can handle all the multimedia traffic on your home network. Right now I have 3 media capable pc's on my network, 1 potential media pc, and a couple that barely run. Also a showcenter, xbox and 2 replaytv dvrs. The idea is to take a stream from either one of them and feed the stream back to the ones I can.
as an example, right now I can take a high quality mpeg file stream it to the server and using btw stream it realtime to my pocketpc in wmv format. This is great if I want to sit on my patio outside and watch a recorded movie.
You can't do this kind of stuff with just one capture card.
The nice thing about sage.tv is you can network capture cards. This is a cool feature I didn't hear even 3.5 having.

Speaking of 3.5 beta, will there still be Pocket pc support? I love watchign TV on my PPC I hope it won't go away with future builds.

I don't have a Pocket PC, but 3.5 BTV Beta qualities show a number of PocketPC qualities.
