I must be missing something,
Just got FF. It's not the Woot! Item I thought at all. Perhaps it's my setup. If I set FF to use winamp it will turn it on and change the volume but thats about it. In fact this is my third try at starting this thread because the focus changes and trying to close winamp with the redX key will close this window. When focus is not on winamp vol+/- will switch to global. Looking in the xml file for winamp it usies commands I've never seen perhaps that just me?
Hmm maybe it's just me thinking it would work without having to set up girder to use it?
Gonna go ahead and post this so I can play with it somemore.
Does work great with BTV. Works ok with Power dvd too. BMB is kinda neat and I can see where the full version will be nice. Guess I was kind of taken aback by the focus changing. IE I have a TV and a monitor, Use the monitor to run things like mbm and cool beans system info to see cpu usage. Also use monitor to surf the web ect. Right now watching btv and have to use the mouse to click on the tv to get focus back to change the channel with the remote.
I guess that would be great for some people but it's started to get on my nerves already. Is there a way to make FF keep it's focus on the app I turned on with it and not switch like this?
Thanks for any help in advance and sorry if it looks like I'm whining

I think the idea of FF is that its for people who are using a fullscreen interface, and not ALSO using the computer at the same time....
Yup looks that way,
Haha figures. got winamp to close in classic view btw. I'll just use use my winamp gml in gider. Not that big of a deal to use the mouse when I'm surfing anyway.
On the bright side It's nice having a rf remote grins. Profile editor looks like fun too.

You can change the key commands that any application is mapped if you think it is suppose to be different. Unfortunately I am away from my PC right now but if you head to C:\Program Files\Snapstream\FireFly you will find I think three exe's. I can not recall the exact one, but one of those deals with profile editing. Open it up, then open the file winamp.xml (it will be located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Snapstream\Firefly\Profiles). What version of winamp are you using?

Hey,
Using winamp 5 latest version. Ya I've looked at the profile editer thingy. Need to reread the tutorial, seems I saw something about focus in there. I see where the keyboard shortcuts came from but I've never been able to use those. I use Mike H.'s gml for winamp2 works perfect as I recall I had to focus each event. I'll figure it out today and share the file when I'm done if anyone else needs it.

Yes, FF is just a tad bit difficult to use for people who use more than one app at a time on their systems, such as using a TV and monitor simultaneously
You can't say I didn't try... I'll try my best to refrain from saying 'I told you so'.
That said, using Girder with it shouldn't be a problem, as that can restrict focus to one app.
And, with any luck, the next version of FF should have this feature.

I must confess I have not used winamp lately, but if the 'music' button is not giving focus to the 'music' application then find out if there is a switch or something that you can send winamp by the commandline and add it to the global.xml file (it is in the same location as the winamp.xml). I believe that for BTV you would use the /fullscreen or something like that.
Anyway most applications have a way to regain focus, and it should have already been caught. There really should be no need for girder in a situation like this. I used Firefly basically for BeyondTV and BeyondMedia on my old system with multi-monitors. I had no issues with focus if I was surfing the net and I wanted to change the channel I would hit 'TV' and then channel up and vola! it would work. It sounds like the 'focus' issue with winamp might have been overlooked, however this would really suprise me.

Thanks for the replys,
Focus in winamp has always been a pain. I think If I use profile editor to use my own set of hotkeys that will work. Problem with hitting the music button again to regain focus..as it is now winamp starts a new app great for zones if ya have multi sound cards. Think I'll try the <SwitchAppAction Text="Winamp" Class="winamp" File="Winamp.exe" Executable="C:\Programfiles\winamp\winamp.exe" State="MAXIMIZE" IfAlreadyShowing="CLOSE" /> or something like it, for the music button and assign the right identifiers for the different winamp windows then I should be set.
Lol This is as fun as girder.
