2nd press release -- beta launched
I'm a little late putting this up here, but I don't think anyone minds. (It was up right away on our News page...)
And more glad tidings: A few people have included links to the SnapStream Media site from their home pages, and a few download and freeware sites have listed our product. If you're reading this, and you don't know a SnapStream employee personally, I'm curious to know how you got here. So drop me a line! --Angelique alia@snapstream.com Well, here's that second release: -------------------- Download the SnapStream Personal Video Station and control your home entertainment from one PC HOUSTON (July 12) -- Over two million Americans already have the basic hardware it takes to watch TV on their home computers.* And that’s just about all the SnapStream Personal Video Station (PVS) needs to deliver on the promises of convergence, by providing easy and powerful integration of home computing, the Internet and television. The first beta release of SnapStream PVS supports Hauppauge, Matrox and ATI TV tuner cards. It is available in a freeware and a full version ($49.99) from www.snapstream.com. With SnapStream PVS running on a PC with a TV tuner card, consumers can: - Capture video from a TV tuner or video capture card, digital camcorder or existing videocassette tapes via a VCR. - Use advanced scheduling capabilities, so they never miss recording their favorite TV programs. - Access videos on demand: Watch videos when they want from their home computers. - Watch videos from anywhere with Web access -- from work, from a friend’s house, while on vacation. - Control recording from anywhere they can access the Web. Should any users leave home having forgotten to schedule a recording, they can tune into their own machines over the Internet and set up the job. Users can also configure SnapStream PVS and manually start and stop recordings remotely. - Become a broadcast station by streaming personal video to family, friends and anyone with Web access. SnapStream Media, founded in November 1999 by Richard Kuo and Rakesh Agrawal, created the term "Personal Video Station" to define a new class of product that gives users more control than the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) and Personal Television (PTV) class of products. For more information about how the product works, visit www.snapstream.com. * As of September 1999, according to a Data Quest report.
