Just so people know, it's the decoder that is having the issue. I experienced the same problem when my nvidia pure video trial expired. My laptop has a 440go, so before they moved the decoder from being a software add on to a hardware implementation (7600 and up I believe). So yes, changing the drivers of your vid card WILL fix it.

For the laptop user, go to laptopvideo2go.com and find yourself a good driver. 182.5 was a pretty good one, and you just need to get the inf replacement.
