I had to build a new HTPC, primarily because it was still running 6 year old technology and as BTV evolved to include new things like digital recordings, HD, h.264 and other features like multiple simultaneous showsqueezes, smartchapter generation, and DVD recording, the 6-year old single core Athlon just couldn't keep up.
