Angry Windows update; reboot; no auto-logon; lost recordings as a result

The title of the post says it all, except that I've tried everything to force windows NOT to reboot after a windows update, and failing that, to automatically log-on to windows so that BTV services can be started. Apparently, MS decided to override my registry changes and reboot without my permission, and also to disable my auto-logon settings.

As a result, I lost a week of recordings while I was away on vacation, most importantly the last episode of 24 (I'm not a big fan of the show, but I am a completist, so that bothers me).

I have taken one more step: I've disabled automatic windows updates, and I'll do them manually every weekend to keep up to date, but I'm still annoyed that Redmond seems to think that they know better than a customer who disabled auto reboots for a legitimate reason.

I would love to see BTV ported to Linux or another OS that can be counted on to respect the user's wishes.
