Question BTV control using Harmony 880 and USB-Uirt

I am researching a remote upgrade for my BTV setup. Currently my rig looks like this:
BTV box running XP Home
Dual tuner cards: one with S-vid input from a digital cable STB, one with analog cable input.
USB-Uirt IR blaster to control STB
Firefly (senior) remote to control BTV.

I am drowning in remotes, and want to consolidate to a Harmony 880. This IR-only remote, of course, is not compatable with my RF Firefly remote receiver. However, I have this nice USB-Uirt sitting there that should do the receiving work, as well as the blasting it currently is performing. Anyone have experience in the pitfalls or successes of this setup? Some threads have alluded to this setup working, but
all the ones I have read around the 880 suggest using a MCE or FFMini remote receiver to connect to the BTV software (like John Sparks' guide at HOW TO: Using MCE Remote and/or Harmony 880 to control BTV ). I will buy one of these remotes just to get the reveiver if I have to, but it seems a shame since I already have the USB-Uirt.
My reading suggests HIP is the way I will have to go (or Girder if I want to pay, but I'm trying to be frugal here). Does Harmony/Logitech have a HIP/USB-Uirt device plug-in? (It would be nice if Logitech would let you scan its supported devices list, but they don't seem to make that info available.) If not, what's the most successful way to make this setup work? Anyone have configuration files? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
