BTV Handling of Delete Shows
Why can't BTV just delete shows normally? I don't believe it is.
I upgraded to a 1000GB RAID5 array (500GB x 3). I then realized that my XP has a limitation of 3.99GB for the recycle bin. So, I then installed Diskeeper's Undelete and I was able to increase from 4GB (most 1 hour shows are 3GB) to unlimited (I chose 30GB). Now if I go to Windows explorer and delete shows they all go to Undelete's Recycle Bin and can be recovered. However, if I delete a show using the BTV UI the file is not recoverable. Someone suggested Handy Recovery 3.0 but that only found xxxxxxxxxxxx.deleteme.tmp files with a size of 0. I believe these files can be correlated to the shows I deleted and this indicates that BTV is doing more than a simple deletion of the file and I don't understand why? At least by deleting in Windows Explorer I have a workaround to what I think is a stupid design flaw in BTV. However, with all of the impressive work they do with the upgrades this problem just seems to get no attention. It would make BTV a lot more user friendly. Losing files does not do much for user morale.
Can anyone confirm how BTV handles deletion of files when you go to the BTV UI then select a show and then click the "Delete File" option below "Play". There is a nice trash can icon but no one should imply from this that the files can be recovered from the recycle bin. Don't know why not!!!!
