I have the same problem with FireFox as the default browser, though it doesn't work with IE7 either. But in my case, it apparently has to do with pemissions, as I run XP in a limited user account. It works OK in an Admin account. I did not have that problem with BTV 4.5, which worked in either. I have given the appropriate permissions to everything I can find also.
(But this could be considered a troubleshooting issue, and should not be posted here, so it is just for info insofar as I am concerned.)
