Need advice with HDTV antenna

I've got a Wineguard SS-1000 antenna and it works pretty well for UHF HDTV channels, but it cannot pick up my local NBC, on VHF channel 10.

I live pretty far from the sources (23 miles) and I'm wondering if there is a better setup than what I've got.

I would prefer to not toss out my existing antenna, but maybe add another antenna and join the signals, somehow, to bring in VHF channels and maybe bolster my UHF channels? (Don't want to spend too much...)

My existing antenna has a rinky-dink pre-amp (Wineguard PS-1503), but it is probably no good for any other setup. After I run the HDTV signal through the preamp, I split it with a high quality splitter (5-2300 MHz) to feed two HDTV capture cards.

Any advice?
