Re: dvi connection confusion--help needed

Your motherboard has what is called a DVD-D connector. This connector format only carries the 'digital' or DVI video signals.

Your Monitor has what is called a DVD-I connector. The I means that it carries both the digital and analog signals so that you can connect it to a Digital source, or to an analog VGA source.

A DVI-D cable will always fit into a DVI-I receptacle. the reverse is not true btw.

So you can buy a cable that is DVI-D on both ends and it should do what you need.

On that pacific cable webpage linked to by fonceur, you would use the "DVI-D Single Link" cable selection for the length you want.

Don't bother with dual link cables. Your motherboards (Geforce6150 output) can only do single link.
