I have Direct Tv with two RCA receivers going to two PVR cards (one 150, one 250). I also use a Firefly remote. I chose to use a serial cable to change the channels. On the back of my RCA satellite receivers is a low speed data cable. one end has a db9 connector for the computer and the other end has a RJ6 connector. the RJ6 connector is the handset connector. IT IS NOT THE SAME AS AN RJ11.(Sorry to yell, but I need to stress that they are not the same size). The pinout is available somewhere here in the forums. I've had absolutely no problems with my Sat receivers behaving properly with this configuration.
