32 bit compatibility only works for software, if your running a 64 bit os you NEED 64 bit drivers for all hardware you intend to use. Until the 64 bit os's have some sort of backing dont expect hardware manufacturers to come out with drivers.
running a 64bit os isnt going to give you much of an improvement in performance unless you are specifically running a 64 bit program on there that is designed to need / use the advancements in processing / memory, regular 32 bit programs are still going to chug along at roughly the same speed, and may actually end up slower depending on the 32bit back support, right now 64 bit is a "geek niche" and a scientific stand point as they are the only ones needing / wanting a 64 bit os, until it jumps mainstream wich probably wont be until long-horn comes out your not going to see too many 64 bit drivers for anything but core components
