RE: BTV Link on client computer (laptop) on my home LAN
When I try to open the BTV link shortcut it opens the blue window and then sais:
" Sorry, but no BTV servers could be found on the local network- 'Refresh' or 'Exit'? "
I have searched this topic to death and nobody else who has posted on this topic has seemed to find the reason why discovery was not possible for them.
Nor can I.
My client's BTV short cut is set to /networkclient:x.x.x.x (x.x.x.x being 1.1.1.13 on my home LAN)
I can ping my server in a cmd promt, and also I see it in Windows Explorer when I type in
\\1.1.1.13\C$
I can type in 1.1.1.13 :8129 and then it will log on the the server's webadmin just fine from the remote host.
I have updated the .net software to 1.1 service pack 1 on the client. I have included permissions to Zone Alarm on the remote host, and on the Server's Sygate firewall software. I have full communication between both compters back and forth in any other way, but the the BTV link WILL NOT discover the server under any circumstance. And the last thing I just tried was to turn off BOTH the Sygate firewall on the server AND the Zone Alarm firewall on the remote host, and STILL nothing. I am running both versions 3.5.1 on server and remote host, server is a licensed purchased copy I've had for a long time, and the BTV Link is a trial version, that will stay as such until I get this to work.
Does anybody have any ideas for me to possibly try before I give up on BTV link altogether.
-By the way, the client is running Win2000 Pro SP3 and the server is running XP Pro SP1.
