Curious on coax and my setup - will I have any issues?

So I have lurked quietly for 3 months now gathering information. Thanks to all of you with the ton of informative posts. I have the following rig I use for gaming/general PC stuff:

Abit NF7-S v.2 with Athlon Mobile 2600+ running at 2.4GHz
1GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR400 RAM
80GB PATA HDD (main) and 120GB SATA HDD (backup)
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro video card
Hitachi 17" LCD (CML 174SXW-B)

I purchased a Hauppage PVR-150 so that I can very occassionally watch live TV, but regularly record stuff I want to watch later in the evening. This card looked to be perfect for that, and I have over 100GB free on my backup drive.

Anyone see any yellow or red flags with this setup?

Next question is related to coax. Mine goes from the wall jack to my Cable Modem, then CAT-5 to my Router/Switch, which hosts 4 PCs total (main PC above, an arcade PC, and 2 work laptops).

What is standard - do people split their cable at the wall jack with a standard splitter, or do people run a new coax cable from the original split in their house?

When you do split it - any issue with internet lag/latency/signal?

Thanks all - I've had a great time reading along...
